A Legacy of Excellence

Since 1971, the Eta Omicron Chapter has carried Alpha’s mission through leadership, brotherhood, scholarship, and service at North Carolina State University.

The Beginning of Eta Omicron

The Eta Omicron Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. was founded on April 7, 1971 by seven men who helped establish a lasting legacy of leadership, service, and brotherhood at North Carolina State University.

These men were aided considerably by the late Brother Dr. Augustus McIver Witherspoon and the Beta Rho Chapter of Shaw University in establishing Eta Omicron as the first African-American Greek-letter fraternity on NC State’s campus.
